Allison was not expecting the ice to actually break under her fist and she cried out as her knees slammed into the top step. She closed her eyes instinctively, expecting the burn of chlorine but when she opened them again she was alone underwater, idly floating away from pearly white steps similar to the ones in the pool. In fact, she would have thought she had simply fallen in the pool had she seen matching white walls and floor. Instead, the icy water stretched on indeterminably all around her in every direction.
